ATHLETIC BILBAO - OSASUNA: PREDICTIONS

Derby match of sorts in Basque country as Athletic Bilbao host Osasuna in San Memes.

Athletic Bilbao opened up their season with a 2-1 away win at Real Valladolid. Bilboa were superior in the 1^st half and played the better football throughout. However Real Valladolid were the more busier side and created a lot of chances with their direct, powerful football. Bilbao were clinging on at the end and were lucky to take all three points. Big injury worry to key defender Ekiza who limped off after 30 minutes, while Aritz Aduriz is suspended. Bilboa add midfielder Mikel Rico to their squad who is signed from Granada, he is a decent addition.

Osasuna lost their opening game at home to Granada. In a very entertaining match the Basque side were equal to the visitors but could not finish were it mattered. The game was an equal match with loads of attacks and chances for both sides. In the end the more clinical finishing from Granada was the only difference. This is a big worry for Osasuna as they could be in trouble unless someone steps up their game. A few injury doubts for Osasuna with starters Miguel Flano, Nino and Lolo joined in the injury room by Eneko Satrustegui (squad man).

Huge move already in this game with Athletic Bilbao going off. I feel this is more to do with the obvious inadequacies of the visitors. A lack of any decent frontline striker leaves them at a huge disadvantage. Bilboa played some lovely football in their win but suffered a bit with the more direct approach of Valladolid.
