BARCELONA – REAL MADRID PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS

Barcelona has been perfect in la liga this season, winning all 6 of their matches so far.  They have scored 17 goals and conceded 5.  4 of the matches have went over 2.5 Goals

Madrid had a very poor start to the season which leaves them in 6^th place with 10 points from 6 matches.  They have dropped points in half their matches so far but seemed to have turned the corner with 4 straight wins including their Champions League matches.  Just 3 of their la liga matches have ended with over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Barcelona have a real injury crisis which is especially prevalent in their defence.  They are missing 3 of their first choice back 4, with Puyol, Pique and Abidal all out and will have to rely on midfielders filling in as makeshift centre backs.  With Mascherano and Song the likely centre back pairing for Barcelona, they will not be confident of keeping a clean sheet.  It was these two playing as centre backs when 2 goals were conceded at Sevilla, and 2 goals to Spartak Moscow, although they did manage a clean sheet at home to Granada. 

Going forward Barcelona still have an array of talent to choose from and this is increasing with Andres Iniesta back from injury and David Villa back to full fitness.  I’m doubtful either will start the match but I’m sure we’ll see them come on at some point.

Real Madrid has absolutely no injury worries and have a full squad to choose from.  They managed to rest some players during the week in the Champions League so players like Ozil and di Maria will come into el classico totally fresh. 

Ronaldo will obviously be their main focus as usual, with him in excellent form with another hat-trick midweek against Ajax to add to his 6 league goals in 6 matches.  He will fancy his chances against a makeshift Barcelona defence that he knows he can outpace.

BARCELONA – REAL MADRID PREDICTIONS: 1X2 BETTING PREVIEW

Barcelona as the home team are favourites for this and that seems completely fair.  I think they win this game well more than half the time and the odds available at some books actually seem very generous.  Barcelona have had the beating of this Madrid side for the past few years, especially at Camp Nou and I think this will continue.

The Asian Market has a Barcelona win as more likely than a draw or Madrid win combined.  The handicap is set at Barcelona -0.5 @ 1.89, but as you can see the 1x2 market has the same bet but with much better odds.  If you are going to back Barcelona then stick with the win at William Hill.

Both games in the Super Cup where these teams met earlier in the year finished with over 2.5 Goals, as have 7 of the last 10 games involving either team.  Every time these sides meet we see goals and I’m going to bet against that happening again.

Over 2.5 Goals is a very generous 1.57 with Stan James, I would back it early before the price moves when money comes in on it.
