MALAGA – BETIS STATS

Malaga remains undefeated this season, having won 3 of their 5 la liga games.  They have scored 6 goals in those games and conceded just 2. 

Betis have also won 3 matches in la liga this season but have lost their two remaining games. They have conceded 9 goals in those 5 games and scored 8.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Malaga came into the season as a team in disarray after their owner indicated he was no longer going to finance large losses and it was necessary to sell some top players, including Rondon and Cazorla.  Many thought that would see Malaga drop back down the table after their impressive 4^th place finish last year, but they have proved the doubters wrong so far.  A solid defence first led them through the qulifiers and into the Champions League proper and has now started them off near the top of the table.  Their defence has only allowed 2 goals in the league so far which is equal best in la liga with Seville and their attack is shared round the team with 6 separate scorers getting their 6 league goals.

Betis were disappointed by an opening day loss at home to Vallecano but bounced back to win 3 of their next 4 thanks to a strong defence where they conceded just 2 goals.  Their last match against Athletico Madrid however was out of character.  They twice took the lead in first half but being dominated after the break and eventually losing 4-2.  They will need to bounce back quickly if they are to stay near the top of the table.
