Levante lost 7-0 to a free flowing Barcelona in their BBVA Liga opener. Barca were difficult to deal with on the night, and Levante was easy prey. In the last three years Levante has won at home on average 9.33 home games with a range of 8-11. I’d say they are weakened compared to their absolute best, as they’ve sold the highly dynamic midfielder Iborra to their opponent here; Sevilla. Still though, I think 8 home wins out of a total of 19 home games could be possible. Those very crude stats would give odds of 2.375 (11/8).

For Levante Christian Lell (Right back) and Pape Diop is still out. New recruit Nong (Striker) sits out as well.

Sevilla has lost the attacking force that is Navas and Negredo. Midfielder Medel has also been sold together with a good few more players. They still have some really good players like Marin, Reyes and Rakitic. They also brought in the aforementioned Iborra in midfield as well as attacking talent in Gameiro, Rusescu, Bacca and a good few more squad players.

Sevilla started their La Liga campaign with a 1-3 home loss to Atletico Madrid. They also won 4-1 in midweek in the Europa League qualification against Slask Wroclaw. They fielded a solid side. Kondogbia (Central defender) took a knock in that match and is a doubt here. Nicolas Pareja (Central defender) injured himself against Atletico and sits out here. Reyes (attacking midfielder) and Cicinho (Right back) is still out too.

Sevilla hasn’t exactly been a fantastic away side lately. Their average win rate away from home over the last three years is only 21.05%. Actually, the crudest of stats indicate 1x2 odds when Sevilla plays away against a random opponent should be 2.04 for the home side, 3.35 for the draw and 4.75 for Sevilla. Again, these odds are compiled in a really basic way.

Recent matches between the two

Since and including 2011 this fixture has been played twice. Levante has won both times 1-0. Last season this game ended a really poor run of form for Levante. They contained the then dreaded Sevilla offense for a very long time, when Sevilla finally woke up and attacked it was too late, they couldn’t find enough clear chances to convert. Sevilla dominated possession in both games.

Both reverse fixtures  in the since and including 2011 interval have ended a draw.

My second betting tip for this match is also with Stan James. They have priced the Under 2.5 to 1.80 (4/5).  Since and including 2011 they’ve played four Under 2.5 games. Also I do not give the last game for either side any weight in my odds computation as they were against two of the leagues by far best sides. I like to compare apples to apples, not apples to Barcelona if you get my point.  Last but not least: Sevilla has lost both Navas and Negredo. They are not easily replaced, and I think Sevilla will struggle in games like this without them.
