Real Madrid have started the season indifferently and sit 5^th in La Liga. They have 11 points from their opening 7 games at a record of W3 D2 L2. Their form reads WLWWD and at home they currently have one draw and two wins from their opening three games at the Bernabeu. Their games have averaged 3 goals per 90 minutes and 4 have had 3 or more goals, 3 have had fewer.

Celta Vigo have been the most inconsistent team in La Liga and sit 12 on 9 points with a record of W3 D0 L4. Their form is as inconsistent as you’d expect at WLWLW and away from home they are yet to pick up a point, with 3 consecutive 2-1 defeats. Their games have averaged considerably less goals than Real’s at 2.43 per game but they have seen the same amount of games exceed 2.5 goals.

Real Madrid have been struck with an injury curse over the international break with both recognised left-backs Marcelo (three months) and Fabio Coentrao (at least a month) out through injury. It seems Alvaro Arbeloa or a youth player will fill in. There was a possibility Sergio Ramos might miss out but he appeared, and scored, for Spain in their match against France. Pepe was also a worry but played for Portugal alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. It seems Celta won’t have any new injury concerns going into the game.

Real Madrid suffered a stuttering start to their season, struggling away from home. They looks very assured in possession and a real attacking threat at the Camp Nou and probably deserved to beat Barcelona in their last game before the internationals. Cristiano Ronaldo remains a talismanic front man and his goals could propel them to another title if they can catch Barcelona and their city rivals Atletico.

Celta Vigo have been unable to string together consecutive victories this season mainly due to their poor away from. I suspect their low scoring will not help them over the course of the season especially if when they do score just one goal they manage to concede two. Their next two away games are this and Barcelona. If they get any more than 0 points from these matches I’d be quite surprised.

Real Madrid will, for me, outclass Celta Vigo in this game. It doesn’t look like they’ll allow Celta much of the ball and will use their sheer class in midfield with the likes of Ozil, Khedira, Di Maria and Kaka always able to influence a game from the off.

I think for this game past results cannot be taken into account. Real Madrid are a real force now and at the Bernabeu they are relentless. They have taken apart teams likes Granada and Deportivo at an aggregate score of 8-1 in their last two games so I think it could be a similar convincing win in this match. Personally I’d ignore the 1X2 market but if you want to back Real Madrid they are 1.12 with Pinnacle.

For me, the real value in this game lies in the Asian Handicap (as it does most weeks with Real and Barca at such short match odds). The bet for me is Real -2.5. I think Real will win with ease and a 3 goal margin or larger wouldn’t surprise me. A price of 2.14 with 188bet looks good value.

Needless to say no value lies in the over 2.5 market. Over 3.5 goals is the bet for me. Even that is much shorter than Even money but I can really see Real Madrid scoring a few with that three-man attack of Ronaldo, Higuain and Di Maria/Benzema. If Real can thrash better teams then Celta may struggle contain them to less than 4 goals.
