Basel progressed to the Champions League in midweek but hasn’t performed very well in the Swiss Super League. Nine points after six games isn’t good enough for this side. In their six games so far they’ve scored in all, and conceded in five out of six. Four out of six has gone Under 2.5.

Young Boys is top of the pops in the Swiss Super League after six games, but they lost their most recent game to the second placed Hoppers (1-2 at home). This is another tough test for a Young Boys side that impressed at times in the Europa League last season with offensive football. So far they’ve scored in every Super League game (two or more in five out of six). Five out of six has ended over 2.5.

Basel hosted YB three times in 2012. Basel notched two wins, and Young Boys took one. Both sides have a handful of new faces in their starting eleven, and by the looks of it Bern is slightly weakened and Young Boys slightly improved.

Basel v Young Boys betting tips

Both teams to score at 1.62 (8/13) with Ladbrokes looks solid to me. Young Boys has such a strong offense that I doubt Basel can keep them at bay. I much prefer this bet over the 1.70-1.80 (7/10 – 4/5) on offer for a Basel win. With YB in this sort of form, and Basel playing a lot of football in a short time the game is much more open than those odds indicate.
