HOVERLA UZHHOROD – DYNAMO KIEV: PREDICTIONS

Hoverla Uzhhorod opened up with an away tie at Champions Shakhtar, just to keep them on their toes its Dynamo Kiev up next in Ukraine Premier League.

Hoverla Uzhhorod have been in existence since the mid 1940’s but only really rose to prominence in 2001. A series of promotions and relegations to and from the Ukraine Premier League means they have not had a chance to consolidate at all in the top flight. With a best finish of 12^th they are not expected to do anything this season other than fight for survival. The squad is limited and is further inconvenienced by the three loan Kiev players who cannot play in this game. Hoverla opened up with a 2-0 away loss at Shakhtar Donetsk, no one expected anything else either,

Dynamo Kiev are the most successful side from the old Soviet Union. With 9 Soviet titles and then 9 Ukraine titles they are the winning most side from the old Eastern Bloc. However they have struggled of late to keep up with Shakhtar Donetsk, with Kiev having to settle for three consecutive runners up medals until last year when it got worse! Dynamo Kiev were poor for a lot of the season and ended up scraping home in 3^rd and missing out on the vital Champions League spot. This season’s challenge has faltered at the 1^st step with a terrible 1-1 home draw with minnows Volyn in game 1.

Really short odds away from home for Kiev and although it’s to be expected they did not win over half of all away games in the entire campaign. I could not back them away at 1.2, especially after the awful home draw against Volyn last week. I take Hoverla Uzhhorod +1.75 at 1.75 with bet365. Against Shaktar away they managed to contain the Champions for long periods in Donetsk so will have less trouble against the inferior Kiev side.
