Saul Alvarez will face Erislandy Lara in Las Vegas, there are no belts on the line but this is all about honour and glory.  With each fighter weighing in dead on 155 lbs this will be at a catchweight.  Its Mexico vs Cuba to prove who ultimately is the best light welterweight in the world not called Floyd Mayweather.

This is an intriguing match up between two different styles. Alvarez is the all action fighter with devasting combination punching, speed and a solid defence. While Lara is the more technical fighter. Methodical and precise with great speed of his own. Lara is from the famed Cuban amateur schools and all that brings.

Many boxing viewers see this as a 50/50 fight but the odds have dropped slowly but surely on Saul Alvarez. I see this fight lasting the distance and Alavarez’s higher workrate should swing it for him. Lara has already lost fights by dubious decisions as his style sometimes sees him seem to have him work less.

Alvares destroyed  Alfredo Angulo, a fighter who knocked Lara down a few times in the previous fight. While Lara dominated Austin Trout in a recent fight. Trout in turn caused Alvarez a heap of problems. For me the power and size advantage of Alvarez will win through.  I see this as a full twelve rounder for sure and the higher workrate of the Mexican will be a huge advantage for him towards the judges.

I  take this fight to go the full distance and think a Alvarez decision is the best value here.
