NORWAY V SLOVENIA PREDICTIONS

The second day of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is here. 8^th ranked Norway takes on the 18^th ranked Slovenia. Norway finished 4^th in their group last year and fell to Russia in the quarterfinals. Slovenia played in the second division last year and got promoted to the top division for this year’s tournament. They have played each other 2 times and Slovenia has won both.

Norway has appeared in the tournament 26 times and has never won. Their best result is a 4^th place back in 1951. Norway doesn’t have any NHL player in their team. Since being promoted from the second division in 2005 they have reached the playoffs 3 times, but never got past the quarterfinals. Players like Per-Åge Skroder and Mats Trygg have tons of experience from playoffs in the Swedish elite league and have also helped their team to reach the quarterfinals in the WC 3 times the past 5 years. I think Norway is looking to get their first win against Slovenia and I don’t think Slovenia will prevail this time with all their youth.
