Jelena Jankovich, a former world number one, now ranked 18th seems to be on her way to form again. On her favorite surface (Clay) she will now face crowd darling Maria Sharapova, ranked 2nd in the world at the minute. The pair met recently on the hard courts of Miami. Sharapova won that one easily in two sets.

Serbian Jelena Jankovich plays an excellent defense on clay when she's in form, and against Sharapove she'll need it as the Russian has a world class attacking play. The Serbian has gradually improved this season, and in Rome (also clay) she went to the Quarter Final. Key for her will be to get in as many first serves as possible, so focus will be of the essence. As Sharapova is so good at returning with power the weak second serves of Jankovich will be converted to winners.

Looking at Sharapova's games she's done fine of course, but she's been close to losing sets, and I therefore find some value on BET365's 3/1 (4.00) for the Sharapova 2-1 win in sets.

3.25 (9/4) is available for Over 2.5 sets. Here you would be covered by a surprise win for Jankovich as well though. However I prefer the Sharapova 2-1 option. Jelena Jankovich is a decent player. She's on the up,  and she has acquired some confidence after great matches so far in the tournament. That's all fine and dandy, but on the other side of the net Sharapova will have plenty of firepower as well.

The Russian should win this, but not as easy as the match odds indicate.
