Can Germany Win the World Cup
Germany have made the following choice for their 23 man squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Roman Weidenfeller (Borussia Dortmund), Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover)Defenders: Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich), Erik Durm (Borussia Dortmund), Kevin Grosskreutz (Borussia Dortmund), Benedikt Hoewedes (Schalke), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Marcell Jansen (Hamburg), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich), Per Mertesacker (Arsenal, England).Midfielders:Julian Draxler (Schalke), Matthias Ginter (Freiburg), Mario Goetze (Bayern Munich), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid, Spain), Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich), Mesut Ozil (Arsenal), Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund), Andre Schuerrle (Chelsea, England), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich).Forwards: Miroslav Klose (Lazio, Italy), Lukas Podolski (Arsenal, England), Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich).
MY VIEWS ON THE SQUAD
A very strong squad on paper with a perfect looking mix of youth and experience. Klose is the only out and out striker named in the squad, but with an attacking midfield full of goal threat it should not mean any worry over scoring goals from the Germans. In a side full of top class talent it is difficult to single out particular players, but Neuer is possibly the best keeper on show in the tournament, Philip Lahm is the ultimate modern game defender and young guns in midfield Draxler and Goetze are capable of influencing any game if called upon. Some are saying Group G is the group of death, but I expect Germany to top it comprehensively. For me they are the strongest challengers from Europe and have a real chance of going all the way, and should at the very least reach the semi final.
