World cup - Group E betting tips

Another interesting World Cup group! France is the big favorite, ahead of Switzerland, Ecuador and Iran. These are the best group E winner odds at the minute:

Honduras qualified from the CONCACAF region after finishing third behind USA and Costa Rica. They look like they’ll have a hard time in this group. Even if they have a couple of experienced Premier League players in Palacios (not a regular for Stoke this season) and Figueroa (Hull) I can’t see this side setting the group alight.

Ecuador is absolutely not a poor side. They defend well, and are tough to beat. Ecuador lack a bit of quality going forward, something only 20 goals in 16 qualification bare witness off! They qualified ahead of Uruguay in the South American qualification group though, so do not be surprised if this side springs a surprise or two.

France is of course the favorite. The French send a squad that in most cases should be able to contend for the title. The French rooster reeks of quality in every department, and Deschamps (the coach) has been in pressure situations a time or two in the past, both for clubs and country. The only obstacle for the French is that they are eh, French. Wherever they go there is drama. One got to wonder why French footballers seemingly have PMS every day of the week.

My Group E betting tips is Switzerland. Priced at 3.75 with BET365 this one is too good to overlook. This country has developed a bunch of fine footballers. I like the balance in this side also in terms of experience and youthful energy. The defense is rock solid, having a higher average age than the rest of the expected eleven. In central midfield they have in-form players and going forward they got a good mix of pace and trickery. Shaqiri and Xhaka are the biggest offensive names, but also keep an eye on Drmic and Mehmedi who has had great seasons in the competitive Bundesliga.

To Finish Second in the group

I am a bit tempted to go with Ecuador, but I will go for the French. Even if they are a bunch of drama queens they have so much quality in the side that they should be able to gather enough points to get to the knock out stages. Something else would be really poor given the strength on paper.
