Deadline Day - Latest transfer news
The transfer window is about to close, so the Premier League clubs are chasing their latest signings at the moment. Below we are taking a look at some of the latest transfers. And hold on tight to your chair. Some of these will rock your boat. And make your sugarmama very cuddely.
John Stones to Chelsea?
Everton has signed Ramiro Funes Mori from River Plate for just under 10 million pounds. He is a player that normally features in mid defence, but he can also play as a side back. He has played for the Argentina international side earlier this year, against El Salvador in March. Does this transfer mean that Everton is willing to let John Stones leave the club? According to the British press, the club has already turned down a £30M offer for him, a substantial amount for a player that still has a lot to prove. If Chelsea make another and improved offer for him, it will be difficult to keep him, but at the same time Everton has let other defenders go and does not exactly have a surplus of good defenders in the squad. Time will tell what happens.
Other transfers
The defensive midfielder Alexandre Song is back in West Ham, on loan from Barcelona. He performed quite well last time he was in West Ham, so this is good news for the Hammers fans. West Ham has had their ups and downs this season, with beating Liverpool 3-0 and Arsenal 2-0 on the positive side, and some internal drama and injured key players on the negative side. So Song is good news and will hopefully remove some of the negativity and make the club board, management, players and fans to all pull the club in the same (and right) direction.
West Ham has also secured Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea. He is a winger that will be either a hit or a miss. He did not perform that well when playing for Liverpool, but did well for Stoke last season. There is no question of his potential, and he could prove to be a top signing for the club, but we think much will depend on his motivation.
West Ham has also signed Nickica Jelavic from Hull, a forward with previous Premier League experience, and considering their current offence this makes sense.
Dieumerci Mbokani will go to Norwich on loan from Dynamo Kiev. This could prove a very good signing for Norwich, Mbokani is a good forward and decent header, with good speed, ball handling and a good physique – qualities that should do well in Premier League. In 2013 he was transferred to Dynamo Kiev after impressing in Belgium for Anderlecht, and he continued to score in Ukraine (where the pace is a bit lower compared to Belgium). So far this season he has scored 3 goals in 8 matches. Norwich is a team that is producing chances, so they should be able to provide him with several scoring opportunities.
