Arsenal v Liverpool stats and facts

Arsenal is 6-2-3 at home in the English Premier League season so far. Liverpool is 3-4-4 away.

Looking at form, Arsenal is 3-2-2 in all competitions, and 4-0-2 in their last six home games (all competitions). Liverpool is 3-0-2 in 2013 and in their last six away games they’re 3-0-3.

50% of Arsenal’s last six Premier League home games have gone over 2.5 goals. Actually, 50% has gone six goals or over. In Liverpool’s last six away games in the Premiership five out of six (83.33%) has gone over 2.5.

Arsenal has managed 3 out of possible 11 clean sheets at home in the Premier League this season. This means they’ve let the opposition score in 72.7% of their home games so far. Liverpool has managed 2 out of 11 possible clean sheets away from home. In other words, Liverpool’s opposition has scored in 81.8% of the said matches.

Since, and including 2011 this fixture has been played twice. The bottom line shows 0-1-1. The reverse fixture this season ended 0-2 in favor of Arsenal. Liverpool was definitely in the game, and could have gotten something out of it with a little more luck and skill in front of goal.

Arsenal v Liverpool team news

Nothing new to report from the Arsenal camp! Gervinho is playing at the African Cup of Nations, Arteta, Coquelin and Diaby are out injured, so is first choice goalie Fabianski.  Liverpool will have Enrique, Johnson and Reina available for selection, but will decide if they’re ready to play this high profile fixture closer to match day. Fringe player Kelly is still out.

Arsenal v Liverpool 1x2 predictions

Arsenal is slight favorites against a Liverpool side struggling for consistency and results against the top teams in the EPL. I am however not not too impressed with Arsenal’s stability either.

Liverpool has improved slowly and steadily throughout the season. They were set back by the loss to Oldham in the FA Cup, but there is plenty of firepower in this squad to rise to the occasion and send that painful loss down memory lane where it belongs.

The home side has just tied down the versatile Theo Walcott to a long term deal, and Giroud has been scoring plenty of goals. It looks like things are finally on the up for the classy Frenchman. On the other side of the coin; Arsenal will definitely have their hands full with the new Sturridge/Suarez partnership and a Gerrard in improving form as their defense has been fairly shaky.

Looking at it, this is really a six point sort of game in the fight for the coveted 4th spot and Champions League football. You can be sure both sides will fight extraordinarily hard for the points. This can still be a game where two attacking sides will go for it, but it’s a game both sides will be bitterly disappointed to lose so it is more likely we will see a composed, hard fought battle. At least until the first goal of the match! This looks like a close one to call. Actually; so close that I go for the draw.

Betsson Sports book offers a really hefty 3.50. Looking at the combined games of both sides this season the odds might look short, but when you add the expected intensity of the 4th position battle, I definitely think there is value to be had. Add to this the Risk Free Bet of up to £100, and you got a winner!

Arsenal v Liverpool Asian Handicap predictions

Asian Handicap is a fantastic way to handicap football to even out inequalities in team strength to make the odds closer to evens. This is wonderful for your betting bankroll as you will have fewer swings, and you have more betting options available to you. You can read more about it here if you aren’t familiar with the concept: Asian Handicap guide.

This game is so evenly matched, and there are so many scenarios that can play out on the pitch! However, for me Liverpool has improved so much, and with a more or less full squad they can do plenty of damage to Arsenal. Add to this the recent history for this tie, and Liverpool becomes an automatic bet. I am not a big fan of the +.5, but the Draw No Bet looks very good at 2.31. The 2.31 is provided by Liverpool betting partner 188bet, and that perhaps explains the offer.

Arsenal v Liverpool Total Goals predictions

On the surface this looks like an Over 2.5 game. Both sides like to attack. Statistically one can argue it’s about 60% chance both teams will score. Both sides have played three Over 2.5 games on the trot. You get the picture? However, 5 out of the last 6 times these sides have met in the Premiership it has ended Under 2.5, and the setting for this game makes for an intense battle. Those seldom end high scoring.

If you agree with my reasoning 2.14 with Come On for the Under 2.5 should make perfect sense. Also, keep in mind ComeOn currently offers an up to £100 matching deposit bonus at the moment.
