At White Hart Lane we have to sides who both narrowly lost their openers 1-0. Spurs were the better side for most of the game at Old Trafford yet lost to a freak own goal. They looked bright and at times played some excellent football. However they never carved any real clean cut chances out. Stoke were beaten by a Coutinho wondergoal in the last 5 minutes of a drab game. Stoke were all round solid but like Spurs never really tested the keeper. Spurs have a full squad with Soldado looking to return back to La Liga. Hugo Lloris should be available for his 1st game of the season. Stoke have Odemwingie, Bojan and Shawcross unavailable while Wilson and Arnautovic are doubts but should be ok. Ready for a debut is new signing Xherdan Shaqiri who will add some creation to the Stoke attack.
Stoke won the two games last season for a combined 5-1 scoreline. I think this game is a hell of a lot closer than it looks. Stoke have an excellent squad of players now and Mark Hughes has evolved their game but they still remain a side with some steel. With a +0.75 handicap start I favour Stoke. We get paid on Stoke win or draw, while a 1 goal loss sees stakes returned.
