Hungary play host to Northern Ireland in this intriguing tie in Groupama Arena, Budapest. Hungary have put some decent results together of late.  Beating Estonia by 4 and ‘win to nils’ over Albania, Andorra and Kazakhstan. A 2-2 draw with Denmark was the least they deserved in a game they were the better side for long periods in. A few negatives though, a 2-1 home loss to Finland and a 8-1 capitulation against Netherlands. The squad is a mixture of experience and younger players and the majority are now based in Hungary which can only be good for the side. Northern Ireland have the ability to play well or absolutely awful. They can defend and are capable of upsetting the bigger nations. However they are struggling in recent times and are hard hit by withdrawels to this team. Out for this one are Ben Reeves and Alex Bruce with Stuart Dallas and Ryan McLaughlin out too. Northern Ireland have won just once in 15 games with a 1-0 home win to Russia. They have drawn 6 and lost 8 in that time. Drawing with Luxermbourg and Malta in that time and losing to Cyrpus, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan amongst others to show how poor they can be.

Hungary are a solid bet for this one against a poor Northern Ireland side. The hardest thing to decide here is which win market to take. The match odds are shortening all the time. I don’t really see Ireland managing to score though either. I take the Hungary win to nil at 2.20 (6/5) with betvictor.
