SAO PAULO – CRUZEIRO: PREDICTIONS

A huge game in Brazil Serie A where Sao Paulo host Cruzeiro at Morumbi.

Sao Paulo went into the season amongst the favourites to lift the title. However after a series of poor results and terrible performances the crowd are on the backs of the Soberano.  After eight games you would not expect Sao Paulo to be near the bottom of the table but that’s how it is. 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats. The fact that three of the defeats where at home and to teams like Bahia, Goais and a poor Santos highlights the major problems.  Sao Paulo have now gone 8 games in all competitions, and to make things worse will miss Wellington who is suspended.

Cruzeiro continues to be strong and is already in the top zone of the league. However their challenge is typified by a strong home bias, they will be very difficult match for any side at Mineirao. Their major problem and one which has dogged them for years is picking up wins on the road. This season they have 3 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat, In away games they have 0 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat.  The opposition hasn’t been top drawer either. Atletico PR and Portuguesa are not great,  with Botafogo the only decent side.
