A real mixed bag of results in Tuesdays Capital One cup. We only have a single game to decipher here and that’s Barnsley v Everton. Everton had raided Barnsley already to take future England captain John Stones and the liklehood is that he will join Chelsea sooner rather than later for £30 million plus. While Mason Holgate has made the trip from Barnsley to Everton a few weeks back. So these two clubs have a good relationship but I see nothing but an Everton win here. Barnsley have Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell available after Man Utd gave them clearance to play. This season so far Barnsley are 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. Everton are 1 win , 1 draw and 1 loss from three. They may decide to drop Stones from the eleven after a late night transfer request. Everton are without Brendon Galloway, Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar, Tony Hibbert and Darron Gibson. Martinez will likely rotate here but Everton do have quality back up. The likes of Besic, Oviedo, Delefue, Naismith, Miralles and Osman will all rotate in.
The Blues have excellent back up options and if Martinez rotates as I think he will they will still have too much. Barnsley are League 1 and shouldn’t be able to match the visitors.
