CARLISLE – BLACKBURN: PREDICTIONS

Huge game in Cumbria as Carlisle welcome ex-Premier League Blackburn to Brunton Park.

Carlisle have bounced around the bottom leagues of English football for the past 25 years, even managing a year in the Football Conference in 2004. Now residing in League 1 the Cumbrians struggled last year finishing 17^th and not far of the drop zone. Normally a strong side at Brunton Park they can give Blackburn a fright, expect a huge partisan crowd also and it could be upset time.

Blackburn will be looking to better last year’s abysmal showing. Stability is the key for me and  managers must be allowed to take chances and go after matches. Any sequence of losses resulted in a sacking last year as nutty owners Venkys went crazy with the P45’s. 17^th position last year was a joke for this club but any side who has 4 different managers in 1 season is bound to struggle. Blackburn have an immense squad, the biggest in the league and their undoubted quality there. DJ Campbell signs on the the season and he is class at this level. With Jordan Rhodes likely to be near the top of the scoring charts this season things look good for Rovers. Someone just needs to tell the owners the odd loss is not the end of the world.

Could be a massively exciting game this one, Blackburn should get the better of their Northern rivals though. There is a huge difference in squad qualities and Blackburn have great strength in depth. Able to field two sides almost, something vital when you have two cup competition and a gruelling season. I think the price on Blackburn is big and expected odds on for sure. 2.10 with William Hill and should shorten after team news.
