TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Southampton go into the game on the back of a superb 4-1 win but the side we will see here will be a totally different team with the entire 1st team rested. In their last Capital One cup side they drafted in youngsters and fringe players.  Jack Cork could play and new keeper Artur Boruc may be involved depending on international clearance. The only 1st choice players possibly involved would be new signings Maya Yoshida and Gaston Ramirez, in an attempt to get them up to top match fitness.
Sheff Wed have had a distastrous recent period with four losses on the bounce with a series of defensive howlers. The backline was suspect from the off but the team were getting away with it due to heavy scoring off there own. Now they have lost a bit off attacking nouse the games are going against them. Confidence is on the floor and they are making simple mistakes as players go missing. Team changes are enforced with midfielder Ross Barkley and centre-half Martin Taylor both cup-tied, while Rhys McCabe is injured. Joe Mattock is available following suspension but Reda Johnson will have a late fitness test. Forwards Chris Maguire and Gary Madine and Chris Maguire are pressing for recalls while midfielder Paul Corry is in contention for his debut.

4.02 on The Draw (Pinnacle) is the selection in a game neither team want to win may seem a strange selection but the price is to big for two competitive teams in 90 minutes. With a place in the last 16 at stake of a major competition you would think a win would be on the agenda of both teams but sadly these days league position is the be all of everything. With two sets of second string players no doubt giving their all it is still likely to be a goal laden game with these two sets of defences.

ASIAN HANDICAP PREDICTION

Sheff Wed on the +1.25 handicap at 1.53 is the selection (Pinnacle) There has been a massive move in this market after the early Southampton team news but its very difficult to put any faith in this Sheff Wed side. The team is rock bottom confidence wise and missing a few of the better players is only making things worse. Southampton's side could be anything but its worth keeping an eye to see if Ramirez starts as he is a seriously good player. Wednesday with the 1.25 start is the selection and gives us some leeway.

Over 3.5 goals 2.50 (Willhill) is viable bet in this game. With two teams experiencing huge selection issues and two already poor defences, we have a recipe for goals here.
