Birmingham host Cardiff City at St Andrews in an interesting game. The home side were consistent last year and a challenge for playoffs is in their eyes. They have a good young coach in Gary Rowett but they have not made any big signings over the summer. New boys Ryan Shotton and Rob Tesche are the only new players and both are available here. Striker Nicolai Brock-Madsen will be missing as he is on Olympic duty. Cardiff finished a few places above Birmingham last season but I don’t expect them to in the top half this year. They have brought in Paul Trollope to manage the side and he hasn’t done anything in the last few years. New signings Jazz Richards and are available but Cardiff have made a few high earners sit out. Federico Macheda, Adam la Fondre and Kagisho Dikgacoi are all out the squad.
Birmingham are solid, well organised and have a good coach. Cardiff are in the middle of cost cutting and I do not see them doing well this season. Tough game still this one but I prefer Birmingham at -0.25 at 2.03 with Pinnacle.
