Big things were expected from both teams at the start of the season and it has not gone at all to plan. Bolton are struggling big time and are getting neither results or performances. Watford brought in a host of new players from Granada and Udinese and after an initial good reaction two bad defeats on the bounce have shown up some weaknesses.

Bolton are on a poor run and are not only losing but playing awful to go with it. Owen Coyle is reeling out the excuses game after game already. The squad remains quality but they just cannot seem to get started in this league. The last game was a 3-1 away loss to a Hull side who totally dominated them start to finish. Bolton went with a more defensive 4-4-1-1 with Keith Andrews behind Davies which is a bad signal of intent. The team must pick up as soon as possible or Coyle will be in trouble and the playoffs will be beyond Bolton. Watford are struggling to integrate the players into the squad from their sister clubs and its seems to having an effect on the team as a whole. There is no denying the class of the likes of Pudil, Vydra and Adil but they don't seem to be on the wavelength as the rest of the team. Defensively Watford are poor and fell  apart like a pack of cards in the last game. Away to Derby the team lined up in a 4-1-4-1 formation with pretty much a first choice team but the performance was none-existant. Gianfranco Zola had the same problem at West Ham with motivating players and failing and it looks like it's happening again.
