Leeds are back on song in the league and have enjoyed four wins form five. In midweek they faced Chelsea in the quarter finals of the League Cup. They led until half time but then Chelsea stepped up a gear or two and Leeds could not handle them. Losing 5-1 was a heavy loss but Leeds did play well. The loss may have more effect on this match as tiredness could be a factor going into the hectic Christmas period.  At the weekend Leeds hosted a rejuvenated Ipswich side. Leeds overpowered them thanks to a star showing by loan signing Jerome Thomas. Yet again the winger took the plaudits with a fine display. Scoring the opening goal and assisting Paul Green for the 2nd.
Middlesbrough have hit a strange patch of form of late with 3 wins and 3 losses in the last six games. At The Riverside Boro have won 8 of their 11 matches and do look very strong. Last time out they hosted Wolves and the game seemed set to fizzle out to a draw when Boro where given a penalty out of the blue. Marvin Emnes dispatched it and Boro even managed a second in injury time as Wolves fell apart. The three points were hardly deserved though at Boro were quite ordinary. Big worry for Tony Mowbray this as they need to get back to the lively, energetic displays that used to be the norm. Club skipper Rhys Williams is available for his first start since August.
