Middlesbrough for me could be a decent outright bet for the Championship. Aitor Karanka arrives in North East with little experience beyond youth football for Spain u16 but was assistant at Real Madrid. They have brought in Nesue, Kike and James Harrison. With Ken Omerou resigned for another season from Chelsea. Taking no part here will be Ledesma, Williams and Carayol. Birmingham had a poor season last year and will be around the drop zone again this season. They have signed a few new players but none really catch the eye. Last season these met at Riverside Boro ran out 3-1 winners despite two red cards.
Middlesbrough look to me to be an allround decent team, finely balanced with some strong additions. Birmingham look like they will continue last seasons struggles. I take Boro at what is a big price when these two sides could be three leagues apart next season.
