SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY - DERBY :  PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Sheffield Wednesday have hit a run of form at just the right time. Unbeaten in four games with three wins in that time the Yorkshire men look a different side to the one blundering their way through games before Christmas. Wednesday have just two losses in the last eleven games and have beaten some of the better sides in the league too. (Hull & Brighton) Wednesday have climbed up the table and sit in 18th now, 4 points above the drop zone. They have 10 wins, 5 draws and 15 losses. Key man Rede Johnson will sit out the next two games and is a big loss. No other problems for Dave Jones. Big incoming news in the shape of highly rated striker Conner Wickham joining for at least a month from Sunderland.

Derby have a problem common amongst sides in this division, consistency. Its hard for most sides to get a run together. Derby sit in 9th position but have yet to manage 3 or more victories in a row. A remarkable statistic, but one common in such a difficult division. Derby are a cut and dried side in that you know when to back them and when to lay them. They are a big home side but very weak away. Derby sit on 11 wins, 8 draw and 10 losses, with 8 wins and 5 draws at home. Gaining two thirds of their points at their home fortress. Jake Buxton is the only injury worry for Derby.

I really like the look of Sheffield Wednesday here and I am very surprised to see odds of 2.50 for the home side. Some bookmakers are quoting 2.25 on the home side and for me given Derby's real problems on the road that looks around the biggest price they should be. Huge form in Wednesday's favour too and they do look a hugely improved side. One of the bets of the weekend for me here and I am already on.
