Wigan lost their 1st game back in the Championship, going down 2-1 away at Bristol City. However they roared back to life in a one sided Lancashire derby – beating Blackburn 3-0. In-between they did fall 2-1 to lowly neighbours Oldham in the EFL cup. They have a few selection dilemmas with Sam Morsy about to leave the club so not available. Nick Powell scored on his return to the side from injury but is way short of full match fitness. While new signing Shaun McDonald is available for a debut. Birmingham has been their usual organised, well drilled selves. A 0-0 draw with Cardiff at home to go with a strong 2-1 win over Leeds at Elland Road. James Vaughan is unfit but Birmingham have two new signings available with Che Adams and Greg Stewart raring to go.
Birmingham are all round a better option here than Wigan. I feel Birmingham could be a dark horse for the play offs and if Che Adams fires they could be on their way. Wigan are ok and shouldn’t be troubled by relegation but I can’t see them getting top half. Take Birmingham with a small start at 2.04 Pinnacle
