Brighton are 9^th in the Championship with 37 points from 25 matches.  They can potentially go into 7^th place if they win their game in hand which will have them close to making the playoffs.  They had the goal of promotion at the start of the season but are falling behind that now and are 12 points off automatic promotion.  I expect them to take this game seriously and will treat Newcastle as a test of how they can compete against Premiership opposition.

Newcastle are really struggling in the EPL and are in 15^th place with 20 points from 21 matches.  They have struggled with injuries all year and the last thing they need is more games.  I expect they’ll take this game lightly and try and rest their very thin squad in order to concentrate on climbing back up the Premiership table.
