Everton v Liverpool predictions and preview: Betting stats
Everton sit 4th in the Premier League on 15 points from their opening 8 games (W4 D3 L1) and are unbeaten in their last 5 PL matches with form of DWWDD. At home they have put together some good performances and are unbeaten with wins against Man Utd and Southampton either side of a draw with Newcastle. Their games have averaged exactly 3 goals with 5 over 2.5 goals and 3 under.
Liverpool are 12th with 9 points (W2 D3 L3) after a poor start to the season. Their form (DLWDW) has improved lately and away from home they have improved from an initial 3-0 defeat at West Brom followed by a draw with Sunderland and most recently a crushing victory against Norwich. Their games average slightly fewer goals at 2.75 a game and only 4 over 2.5; 4 with fewer.
Head-to-head between these teams is as even as possible at Goodison Park with 31 wins each and 26 draws. Last season’s corresponding fixture was a 2-0 Liverpool win and interestingly you have to go back to April 2000 to see the last draw in a Merseyside derby at Goodison.
Team News and Run of Play
Steven Pienaar’s red card against QPR means he’ll miss the match while Fellaini and Gibson are continuing their attempts to be match fit. Pepe Reina may miss out for Liverpool as he doesn’t look likely to fully recover from the injury that’s kept him out for the past week or so. Lucas, Borini and Martin Kelly are long-term absentees while Glen Johnson may need to pass a late fitness test after being subbed at half-time in midweek.
Everton have started the season very well and probably rightly go into the game as marginal favourites. They will wait on the fitness of Fellaini as this could make a real difference on how Everton play. He changes their structure in midfield and David Moyes will have to prepare his side to set up with and without the big Belgian just in case. The Toffees have performed superbly at Goodison and are unbeaten. In addition they have only lost one of their last 17 PL matches.
Liverpool started the season in poor form but have since really picked up in both their performances and their results. The wins at Anfield have taken a while to come about but are sure to keep on coming and a steady rate now. They have secured two hard fought wins this week at home to Reading and Anzhi Makhachkala but still need more goals; at the moment they’re relying on Suarez a bit too much.
This game will no doubt be a fiery encounter as ever. The Merseyside derby has an incredible history and it is not often Liverpool go in as outsiders so will this spur them on? Or will Everton’s confidence be so high they go into it genuinely believing they are the better side? I think the game will be played at a great pace and, much like their midweek Europa League win, Liverpool will try to play the Brendan Rodgers passing style from start ‘til finish.
Everton v Liverpool predictions: 1X2 betting preview
I genuinely believe that these two sides will want to win the match, of course. But at the same time neither would be unhappy coming away from the game with just a point apiece. I think the fact that one bookmaker has the draw at odds as low as 2.90 suggests that they can see the draw too. These two sides are so evenly matched and for me the price of 3.37 with Pinnacle for the draw looks a very good bet.
If you see a stalemate then bet it here.
Everton v Liverpool predictions: Asian Handicap preview
I fancy the draw quite strongly in this game but if Fellaini misses out then I have to favour Liverpool slightly. They’re the outsiders in the match market so at odds of 2.04 with 188bet, I believe Liverpool (0) would be a bet in the Draw No Bet market.
If you slightly favour the away side, back it here.
Everton v Liverpool predictions: Total Goals preview
For me, this game screams 1-1 draw. Everton have drawn their last two games (2-2 and 1-1) and Liverpool have won their last two games by just 1 goal to nil. For me there doesn’t look to be many goals in this game so under 2.5 goals at 1.90 with BetVictor is my bet.
If you see a low scoring Merseyside derby, bet here.
