Everton’s recent excellent run was derailed as they capitulated against a resurgent Aston Villa. Everton were moving up the table and now sit in 11^th with 44 points. Home for them sees 7 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats –only the top 3 have lost less than The Blues at home. Recent form was good until the Villa loss but now stands at 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss – at Goodison lately though Everton have won the last 6 games with 13 goals scored and 2 conceded (plus 4 consective clean sheets) They miss Oviedo and Hibbert in the backline with Pienaar and Gibson out the middle. Sunderland are in trouble and with only three games left are in desperate need of points. Its very close at the bottom with 5 teams in the battle for the 1 spot – it looks like QPR and Burnley are doomed. Sunderlands away form is poor with 2 wins, 8 draws and 6 losses. Recent form for them sees 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses under new coach Dick Advocaat.  They are without Brown and Alvarez with Fletcher not 100% - he may be risked though such is the need for something from this game.

Although Everton are safe and Sunderland are fighting for the points I would still not write Everton off. The home fans are in revolt and Martinez knows he need a good finish to go some way to appease them. After a good season last year it looks like they have gone backwards this year and Martinez is under pressure. Advocaat has steadied Sunderland somewhat but the damage may already be done for them. I take Everton -0.75 – we get paid on a 2 goal win, a 1 goal win sees half a win and half stake refund.
