Leicester go into this one in terrible form, they are rock bottom of the league now. They have not won in 8 league games now (2 draws and 6 defeats) – important point here is the quality of opposition is low. Not one of the bigger clubs have been faced in that time and only really Southampton of any note in that poor run. Leicester will miss Upson and Hammond – neither really played much this season. Liverpool got back into winning ways with a 1-0 home win over Stoke. A game in which they huffed and puffed but took the three points. Pool are in 11th with 17 points which is a terrible return for them. Away form sees 2 wins and 4 defeats. Liverpool are without Sakho and Flanagan in defence, with strikers Balotelli and Sturridge missing too.
A game Liverpool would have won last year with ease. However although they have struggled over the season I do see positive signs. A dropping of Gerrard by Rodgers last week could work wonders for the Reds. Lucas Leiva was my man of the match last time out and his game time should increase now. Liverpool looked more solid anyway – I think they have the quality to beat a below par Leicester.
