TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Liverpool had a difficult away tie with West Ham last week where they were without top goalscorer Luis Suarez.  They managed to turn round a 2-1 half time deficit and won the match 3-2.  This will give them plenty of confidence that they are not reliant on just Suarez to get their goals and that the rest of the squad can contribute to them moving up the table.  Their only injuries now are the long term Borini and Kelly, with everyone else fit for selection.

Villa are still struggling with their own injury list with, Stevens, Vlaar, Bennett, Dunne and Gardner all missing.  They have managed to overcome this lately and have not lost for 4 matches, albeit drawing 3 of them.  They are still right on the edge of the relegation fight and need to get some wins in the bag to take them clear of it.

I expect Liverpool to dominate possession here and with almost a full squad to choose from they will be more complete than they have been for a while.  The next 5 matches for Liverpool are all winnable and we’ll find out over the next few weeks just how much they have improved under Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool are heavy favourites here as the home side.  There is only 7 points between the teams in the league but the market is pricing this like a top 4 side against relegation candidates.  Liverpool have won 3 of their last 4 at home, conceding just one goal and I think they’ll be too strong for Villa this week.
