Liverpool v Tottenham predictions

Liverpool is seventh in the Premier League. After a shaky start Liverpool has definitely improved, but Brendan Rodger's team is still difficult to trust. The Reds still struggle for consistency, and if Suarez has a bad day at the office goal conversion isn't good enough. Here Liverpool should have Daniel Sturridge back in contention for a starting position. That will definitely be a plus for Liverpool should he make it into the first eleven for this game. Other than that Liverpool has no new team news to report.

Tottenham is currently second in the Premier League. Spurs are holding on to a direct Champions League spot, and is flying high. Four wins on the trot in the Premiership, and on Thursday they destroyed Inter Milan in the Europa League. This, very much thanks to Gareth Bale. The welshman has been in fantastic form setting the Premiership alight. He is definitely a contender for player of the year alongside Liverpool's bad boy, Suarez and United's classy Van Persie.

Last season this Liverpool - Tottenham ended 0-0, and the reverse fixture this season was an action packed 2-1 win for the Spurs.

I expect this to be another action packed game. I would be surprised if any side hold more than 55% of the possession. I do expect Tottenham to be slightly more direct in their style than Liverpool. As usual Tottenham will try to get Bale into favorable positions against the much slower Liverpool central defenders. Liverpool will look to create through the flair of Suarez, Coutinho, Sturridge and Gerrard. 

Both sides are fully aware of each others capabilities, so I do expect them to be slightly more cautious than normal. At least until the first goal of the match is scored.

The key for me in this match is that the Spurs played an awful lot of football the last few days. They played Arsenal in a really tough derby game on the third of march. Then they met Inter this Thursday. This is their third high profile game in a week. That is tough! Liverpool has more than enough quality to pounce on that! We saw what they are capable of in their two recent draws with Arsenal and Man City. If Arsenal is as much as five percent off their best Liverpool will show no mercy!
