Man City have opened up where they left off last season. Two tricky games on paper and two straightforward wins. A strong and dominant 2-0 at Newcastle was followed up with another brilliant home win. They toyed with Liverpool for 20 minutes or so and then stepped up several gears. Running out a deserved 3-1 win, they showed their class with the likes of Sergio Aguero stepping of the bench! – City will have to do without Mangala and Negredo while Dzeko is a doubt after Skrtel stamped him on Monday. Stoke had bought well over the summer but Mark Hughes has yet to get his team just right. They lost at home to Aston Villa on day 1 and drew 1-1 at Hull despite having a man advantage for 75 minutes due to an early red card. Stoke do without Cameron and Ireland and have doubts over Whelan and Bardsley – but both should start.
I actually like the new Stoke and think they will ultimately come good. However this City side are simply out of their league. They have such strength in depth that they can tweak their side in many variations. Pellegrini is a quality manager and has his side purring at the moment. I think they will look to gain maximum points early on as they have such a tough Champions League programme they will need to rack up some points. I take City to win without conceding.
Back Man City win to nil at 1.85 (17/20) with BetVictor.
