MANCHESTER CITY V MANCHESTER UNITED PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Manchester City are 2^nd in the EPL with 33 points from 15 games, winning 9 and drawing 6.  They have scored 1.87 goals per game while conceding 0.73 for a total goal difference of +17.  Their recent EPL form has seen 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5 games with an aggregate score of 10-2.  Just 2 of the 5 games ended with over 2.5 goals.

Manchester United are top of the EPL with 36 points from 15 games, winning 12 and losing 3.  They have scored 2.47 goals per game while conceding 1.4 for a total goal difference of +16.  Their recent form has seen 4 wins and 1 defeat in their last 5 with an aggregate score of 11-7.  3 of the 5 games ended with over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

This is the biggest game of the season so far with the two main contenders for the EPL title battling it out for the first time this season.  Manchester United have a narrow 3 point lead coming in but as the away side they are outsiders and they suffered two defeats at the hands of City last season.  This is a game you can’t miss and it could help decide what part of Manchester the title goes to at the end of the season.

City are sweating the fitness of some of their most important players coming into this match.  Silva is unlikely to make it with a hamstring injury, as are Milner, Kolorov and Richards.  Clichy should be back along with Rodwell and Yaya Toure will start.  Without Silva City seem to be missing their main spark in midfield and it is left to the personal brilliance of Toure, Aguero and Tevez to make goals rather than the guile of the little Spaniard.

United also have their own injury worries with Cleverley, Anderson, Nani and Vidic all missing out.  Valencia is expected to be fit and Kagawa has an outside chance of playing a part.

The main area of weakness for United will be central midfield where we can expect a pairing of Giggs and Carrick.  They will likely be up against Barry and Toure for City, who are definitely the strongest of the two pairings.  If United get overrun in midfield then it’ll be difficult for them to retain possession and bring their best feature, their attacking players into the game.  United may try and alleviate that threat by adding another body deep in midfield but with Tom Cleverley injured it’s difficult to see who they’ll play there with enough movement to make a difference.  

This should be a great battle between the two top sides in the league, albeit with a number of injury worries.  We can expect some top attacking play from some of the best strikers in the league and I think we’ll see a classic.
