NEWCASTLE UNITED V QPR PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Newcastle are 15^th in the table with 17 points from 17 matches, winning 4, drawing 5 and losing 8.  They have scored 1.12 goals per game while conceding 1.53 for a total goal difference of -7.  Their recent form has seen 1 win and 4 defeats in their last 5 matches with an aggregate score of 6-9.  4 of the 5 matches ended with over 2.5 goals.

QPR are finally off the bottom of the table in 19^th place, having won their first game of the season.  They are on 10 points from 17 matches with that one win, 7 draws and 9 losses and have scored 0.88 per game while conceding 1.76 for a total goal difference of -15.  Their recent form has seen 1 win, 3 draws and 1 loss in their last 5 with an aggregate score of 6-7.  3 of the 5 games ended with over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Newcastle have been one of the worst form teams in the EPL over the past 6 weeks, losing 6 of their last 7 matches.  Their lone win was thanks to an early penalty and sending off against opponents Wigan which led to a comfortable win.  They have really struggled with injuries but have 8 or 9 of their best 11 available so the continued poor run can’t be blamed solely on that.  They could easily be dragged into the relegation zone with just 1 or 2 more poor results so things need to change quick for Newcastle.

QPR seem like a different side under Harry Redknapp and they are undefeated in 4 matches.  They need to turn a few draws into wins though if they want to make up the 5 point gap to safety but they seem in much better form than some teams above them so it is certainly possible.  Their run of games over the next few weeks is tough with Newcastle, WBA, Liverpool and Chelsea but they should be capable of getting 4 points from those games which they’d be ecstatic with.

Newcastle are favourites for this one as you’d expect at home.  They are a lot longer priced than they would have been a month ago however and getting over evens against second bottom of the table at home seems like a great price.  But with Newcastle’s form it is a worry to be backing them.  I think their first 11 should be strong enough here and 3 of their last 4 defeats have come away from home, with their only win coming here.
