Wigan are 15^th in the table, also with 14 points from 14 games.  They have scored 1.07 goals per game but have conceded 1.79, for a goal difference of -10.  Their recent form has seen 2 wins and 3 losses in their last 5 games, with an aggregate score of 5-9.  3 of the 5 games ended with over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Newcastle have struggled hugely with injuries and suspensions this year and have had half a team missing for their recent bad run of form.  Going into this match they will be without Gosling, Ben Arfa, S. Taylor, R Taylot, Vuckic and Cabaye through injury.  And James Perch is suspended.  This has been a real struggle for Newcastle as they cannot put out a settled team with so many injuries and suspensions over the season.  They again will have to change things with Perch missing this week, meaning someone else will have to fill in beside Tiote in central midield.  Times are worrying if you are a Newcastle fan as a few more weeks of this bad run can land them in the relegation zone, a far cry from their lofty aspirations at the start of the year.

Wigan are hovering just above the relegation zone themselves but seem to manage to pull out wins when they need them to keep them one step ahead of the drop.  They have a few winnable games in the near future where they will hope to put a run of results together to drag themselves up to mid table and away from the fight at the foot of the table.
