NEWCASTLE V SOUTHAMPTON PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Both sides have been in and around the relegation fight this season but thanks to some recent good form have pulled clear for now but the loser of this match could be right back in the fight.

Newcastle are 16^th in the table with 27 points from 26 matches, which exactly mirrors Southampton’s record in 15^th.  The only difference between the sides is goal difference with the Saints on -9 and the Toon on -12.

Newcastle have picked up 2 wins in their last 3 games which has given them some much needed points and kept them outside the relegation places.  Their huge injury list from earlier in the season is beginning to subside and the new players they brought in during the transfer window have improved the quality and depth of the squad.

Southampton have performed very well under new manager Mauricio Pochettino and have actually been unlucky in some of their matches despite losing just once in their last 5 matches.  They showed just how far they have improved with an excellent 3-1 win over Manchester City last time out which was well deserved.

 I think Newcastle have really turned a corner since the end of January and their new signings along with players returning from injury have vastly improved the squad.  They are still not out of trouble but should be able to pick up enough points over the next few weeks to stay well clear of the fight at the bottom.
