Southampton got back to winning ways last Premier League matchday with a win against south coast rivals Brighton. Given that they played with ten men for a considerable amount of time, that was impressive. After getting a goal back at 0-2 vs LFC I think they played pretty well too in their game before that. Manchester United on the other hand lost at home to Crystal Palace last round. Not quite what is expected of them! That said, they dominated much of the game! Against Chelsea they won 4-0 at home in the season premiere, but were a bit lucky. Against Wolves it ended 1-1. As we all know Wolves is a capable, decent side.
No new injury worries for either side as far as I can see. Both sides may miss two player with two starts each this season. For Southampton, Bertrand is a big doubt while Redmond is confirmed out. Manchester United will be without Martial and Shaw.
The 1x2 tip has to be awarded to Manchester United. There is a lot of negativity still surrounding the Red Devils. An international break is coming up! They got to collect 3 points in matches like these if they are to compete, even for top four. Surely they will be able to muster a better performance in front of both goals compared to the match last weekend at Old Trafford. Southampton played a midweek fixture away to Fulham in the League cup. Sure, they did rotate the squad, but most likely this will interfer with the preparation ever so slightly. All in all enough for us to consider the away win.
