STOKE CITY V NEWCASTLE UNITED PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Stoke are 12^th in the EPL with 16 points from 13 games, winning 3, drawing 7 and losing 3.  They have scored just 0.85 goals per game but they have matched that on defence with just 0.85 a game conceded also.  Their recent form has seen 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss in 5 matches with an aggregate score of 3-2.  None of the games had over 2.5 goals.

Newcastle have fallen to 14^th in the table with 14 points from 13 games, winning 3, drawing 5 and losing 5.  They have scored 1.0 goals per game but conceded 1.46 for a goal difference of -6.  Their recent form has been very poor with 3 straight EPL losses.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Stoke spent some money in the summer to try and open up their play somewhat but their defence first mentality is still in operation.  They have one of the league’s stingiest defences with just 11 goals conceded, which is second only to Manchester City.  They are struggling to score goals still however which is leading to too many drawn matches that they should really be trying to win if they are to push for a top half finish.

Newcastle have be ravaged by injuries lately and have been missing half a team of starters.  They’ll be without Steven and Ryan Taylor, ben Arfa, Ameobi, Overtan, Cabaye, Gosling and Vuckic going into this match which leaves them really short of numbers.  This doesn’t totally explain their complete collapse in form as they still have a first 11 that you’d expect to be a top 8 standard.  Another tough away fixture was the last thing Newcastle needed and they’ll struggle to get anything going here.

Stoke are favourites at home which I’d expect, they have looked strong lately and have just conceded 2 goals over their past 5 matches.  They still have trouble scoring but with the poor form of this Newcastle side I can see them having enough chances.
