TOTTENHAM – ASTON VILLA PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS

Tottenham have bounced back from a poor start and are now right in the hunt at the top of the table. They have 11 points from 6 matches and have won 3 league games in a row. They have scored and conceded in every match, and 4 of the 6 have been above 2.5 goals.

Aston Villa have had a difficult start to the season and have picked up just 5 points from 6 matches. Their away form has been poor, losing 2 of 3 matches and picking up a solitary draw. Only 2 of their 6 matches have ended with over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Spurs had a shaky start under new manager Andre Villas-Boas but seem to have come good now. Their win at Manchester United last weekend showed exactly how the new boss expects the team to play and their direct and pacey attack caused United all kinds of problems in the first half. Sandro and Dembele have created an excellent partnership in the middle of the park and complement each other well with Sandro acting as the destroyer stopping opponents from attacking and Dembele able to break forward by dribbling or passing. They still look a little light up front but Defoe has been in excellent form so far netting 4 goals in 6 league matches.

Aston Villa looked to have turned the corner after drawing away at Newcastle and picking up their first win at home to Swansea but since then they have regressed again and lost away at Southampton and drew at home to WBA. The team don’t seem to be on the same page as new manager Paul Lambert and dropping their main striker Darren Bent last match doesn’t make his relationship with the squad seem any better. It will be a difficult to come up against a resurgent Spurs team away from home and Villa will be hoping they get a bit of luck and can come away with a draw.

Spurs are very strong favourites for this match and I can’t see anything other than a home win myself. They are full of confidence and have been scoring goals for fun.
