TOTTENHAM V LIVERPOOL PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Tottenham are 7^th in the EPL with 20 points from 13 games, winning 6, drawing 2 and losing 5.  They have scored 1.77 goals per game while conceding 1.69 and have a total goal difference of +1.  Their recent form hasn’t been great with 2 wins and 3 losses in their last 5 matches with an aggregate score of 8-10, and 4 of the 5 matches ended with over 2.5 goals.

Liverpool are 11^th in the table with 16 points from 13 matches, winning 3, drawing 7 and losing 3.  They have scored 1.31 goals per game against 1.23 conceded and also have a total goal difference of +1.  Their recent form has seen 4 draws and one win in their last 5 matches, with an aggregate score of 7-4 and 2 of the 5 games ended with over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Tottenham still have a number of injuries and will be missing 3 first team starters in Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul and Parker who have all been out long term.  They will again be without Adebayor who is serving his ban for a red card against Arsenal 2 weeks ago.  Tottenham got their first win in 4 games at the weekend when they easily beat West Ham 3-1, before that they had been going through a very poor run of form with 3 straight losses.  Dembele being back from injury is a huge bonus for the side as in his 6 appearances in the EPL this season Spurs have won 5 and drawn 1.

Liverpool are undefeated for 8 matches in the league but have drawn 5 of the games which isn’t good enough.  They need to turn their control in games into wins if they want to begin to challenge again near the top of the table.  Liverpool will again be missing Lucas, Borini and Kelly who are all long term injuries but Andre Wisdom should be fit again although not likely to start. 

This is a good matchup between a team who likes to control possession in Liverpool, and a team who look to hit on the break in Tottenham.  The pace that Spurs possess, especially out wide with Lennon and Bale could cause a lot of problems for Liverpool who have been struggling at left back especially this year.

Tottenham are slight favourites here as the home side.  The market always seems to rate Liverpool very highly despite their poor league position over the past few seasons and again I think here they are overrated.

Tottenham have struggled to break teams down at home but Liverpool will come out looking to control possession and imposing their will on Spurs.  This suits Tottenham’s game where they can break quickly and the pace throughout their team will be difficult to cope with.

I think there is plenty of value with Betsson who are offering a Tottenham win at 2.40.

TOTTENHAM - LIVERPOOL PREDICTIONS: ASIAN HANDICAP PREVIEW

If you are worried that Liverpool may be able to dictate the play and stifle Tottenham then you can use the AH market to take away the risk of a draw.  Liverpool have only won once away from home this year and that was against Norwich, even their home wins have been against lower sides in Reading and Wigan.  I think the best Liverpool can expect here is a draw and I’d be confident backing Spurs in the ‘draw no bet’ market, this means if the match ends in a draw your stake is refunded.

Tottenham has seen an average of 3.6 goals per game over their last 5 matches while Liverpool has seen 2.2 per game over the same period.  6 of the 10 games ended with over 2.5 goals.

The market sees over 2.5 goals as a favourite here but I feel this is a coinflip with the under just as likely.
