TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Wigan have really struggled lately and have fallen into the bottom 3, having not won in 4 matches.  They must quickly start gaining some points if they don’t want to be left behind by Southampton who are even on points but in much better form than Wigan.  Their Christmas fixtures are very tough with their two home matches against Arsenal and Manchester United and two tough away ties at Everton and Aston Villa.  There could be a  number of points between them and safety unless they overachieve in at least one of these games.

Arsenal, despite their difficulties this season, find themselves in 5^th place in the league just 2 points off the Champions League spots.  They have had a fixed midfield 3 of Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla for a number of games and it seems to have started working well for them, barring the terrible cup result at Bradford.  They have a number of winnable games over the next two weeks and will hope to be in the top 4 by new year.

Arsenal are strong favourites here and I can’t see past them for the win.  Wigan have been very poor lately and should be outclassed by this Arsenal side.
