WIGAN V NEWCASTLE PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Wigan are in another fight at the bottom of the table but can they produce a miracle escape again like their previous few seasons?  They currently sit in 18^th position with 24 points from 28 matches which leaves them 3 points behind Aston Villa but with a game in hand.  They have won once, drawn twice and lost twice in their last 5 league matches but need to pick up a few more wins over the next few weeks to drag themselves out of the bottom 3.  Last week they played their best game of the season in an excellent 3-0 win away to Everton in the FA Cup and they’ll face Millwall in the semi-finals with a great chance of an FA Cup final to end the season. 

Newcastle are in a group of 5 teams on 33 points which leaves them 9 points clear of the relegation zone and they should be safe.  They have won 3 of their last 5 league matches to pull themselves clear of the drop zone and the new signings they made in January have had a great effect on the team.  All 3 of those wins have come at home though and both away matches in that time have ended in defeat.

Wigan have a lengthy injury list including Miyaichi, McManaman, Pollitt, Ramis, Watson and Crusat who will all miss out while Newcastle will be missing Coloccini, Krul, Vuckic and Taylor but will hope Ameobi and Ben Arfa will be fit.
