LENS V BORDEAUX PREDICTIONS   

This Coupe de France quarterfinal will be played between two former Ligue 1 champions. Lens is now playing in Ligue 2 where they are struggling in midtable. Their objective was to finish on the podium and come back where they should be, but they will have to wait for at least one more year.

Bordeaux is having a pretty disappointing season so far. They are sitting in 9^th position, and never this season did they look like they were able to join the European fight. This Coupe de France is a good opportunity for them to keep hope for a title. It also allows the whole squad to remain involved until the end of the season with this current objective.

Both teams haven’t performed that well recently. Lens are 1-3-1 in their last 5 games, while Bordeaux are 1-2-2.

Bordeaux’s coach, Francis Gillot, decided to bring the exact same group of players who were there in their 4-2 home win over Montpellier last weekend. It looks like the good decision in my opinion as they will go in Lens with a bit more confidence and that will not break the team’s dynamic, as it can happen when using several usual subs.

As a Ligue 1 team, Bordeaux are logically seen as favourites. However that will probably be a tight game in Lens’ stadium, which should be full of fans pushing their team.
