MONTPELLIER V SOCHAUX PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Montpellier are still struggling to get closer from the top of the table. They are currently 12^th of Ligue 1 after having won 8 games, drawn 5 times and lost 8 matches. But it is still possible for them to get a European ticket in the end of the season as they remain only 6 points away from the 4^th spot.

Sochaux will just try and keep their spot in Ligue 1, which traditionally is their objective. They are 15^th with a 6-4-11 record, and just 3 points above the relegation zone. They have won their two Ligue 1 games in 2013, both at home, which will give them a bit more confidence and margin over their direct opponents.

Montpellier had a pretty solid last couple months, especially compared to the beginning of their season. However, last week has been very difficult for them. After being beaten in semi-finals of Coupe de la Ligue by Rennes, they lost 3-2 in Marseille with a 90^th minute goal.

On top of that, they lost their best defender. Yanga-Mbiwa just joined Newcastle for around 8M€. Younes Belhanda is playing the Africa Cup of Nations and is expected to sign in Turkey. Those two players (along with Giroud who already left) were the key players in last season’s title, so a new chapter is starting in Montpellier.

In my opinion, the value is clearly not on Montpellier. They are currently going through a difficult season, and they could be destabilized by those important players leaving the squad. I would back the draw at 4.1 with BetVictor.
