LILLE V NICE STATS AND FACTS

Lille are standing in the 8th spot of Ligue 1, with a record of 5-3-1 when playing at home. They are 8 points away from the Champion’s League last ticket. In 9 home games they conceded only 6 goals for 14 scored. Nice are the big surprise of this first half season as they are currently 5th, way above their standard. Away from home the record is poor though (1-5-3).

Lille played in semi-final of Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday, which they lost after penalty shootouts in Saint-Etienne. Nice were already out of this Cup and had two more days to rest.

TEAM NEWS AND 1X2 PREDICTIONS

Lille will be missing Salomon Kalou and Ryan Mendes, both gone to play the Africa Cup of Nations. But both of them haven’t been used a lot lately. Payet, Martin and Roux had good performances recently so Rudi Garcia will rely on them to keep doing the job in offense.

Nice crushed Valenciennes 5-0 last weekend, confirming a fantastic last couple months. Claude Puel (Nice’s coach and former Lille’s one) is doing an amazing season with such a squad. There are no stars, but many players with a lot of experience in Ligue 1. Their ranking would probably not be that good without Cvitanich (12 goals). Bought 400K€ to Boca Junior, he is the most efficient striker in Europe so far with 12 goals notched for only 37 shots.
