MARSEILLE V MONTPELLIER STATS AND FACTS

Marseille are 3^rd, 3 points away from the top of the league. When playing in the Velodrome, they are 5-2-2 (the 2 losses being in the last 3 games, against Lorient and Lyon). In their last fixture, Marseille lost 3-1 in Sochaux who was in really bad shape.

After a terrible start, Montpellier is back in the top half of the table. This league is so tight that they are now only 3 points below the 4^th spot. Montpellier have won 4 of their last 5 Ligue 1 games. When they play away from home, the record is quite poor though (3-2-5).

TEAM NEWS AND 1X2 PREDICTIONS

The home team has just lost Loic Remy, who signed in QPR for €10 million. He has been injured a lot lately, keeping him away from his regular level. But when he was in good condition, he was the biggest threat in this team. The good point for Marseille is that the Ayew brothers will not play in the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana, leaving the home team with two unexpected offensive players.

On the other side, Montpellier will be missing its playmaker, Younes Belhanda who is with Morocco in the ACN. But it already happened last season, and its substitute Cabella did a really good job when he was given the opportunity. Moreover, Belhanda is about to sign for a foreign team (most likely in Turkey) and he hasn’t been exceptional this season, so the team shouldn’t be too affected.
