Monaco has not started the season as well as they had hoped to do, they are down in 11th place with eight points after five matches. The stats show 2-2-1 and a goal difference of 4-5. In the midweek Monaco played away to Anderlecht in the Europa League, a match they dominated for most of the time, but in the end only managed a 1-1 draw. For this match Moutinho in midfield is back, same goes for Bakayoko. The striker Traore, winger Diran and midfielder Toulalan are still unavailable.
Lorient has only five points after five matches, and is in 17th place just ahead of the relegation line. They have 1-2-2 and 5-7 in goal difference. Their only win so far came last weekend when they at home beat Angers 3-1, and has previously managed a draw away to Lyon. For today’s match midfielder Mesloub is unavailable (he played all previous matches), while striker Fofana is still out.
Monaco should win this match. Getting Moutinho back will be a plus, and they have only lost once in ten meetings at home to Lorient (won seven), and that loss came early last season when Monaco was struggling. With that in mind they should be looking for revenge today, and a win will see them within one point of the Champions League spot. Lorient conceded four goals in their last Ligue 1 away match to Reims, and should concede several goals today as well.
