PSG V MARSEILLE PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

This is the first of the two French clasico that will take place this week. After this Ligue 1 game, they will play in Coupe de France on Wednesday, still in Paris.

Paris is still on top of the table, despite their 3-2 loss in Sochaux last weekend. When playing home, they won 8 of their 13 games, drawing in 3 and losing 2. In those home games, they scored a total of 22 goals and conceded only 7. This loss in Sochaux was the first one in the last 3 months so it might be good not to be over confident before this Clasico. They still have 3 points more than Lyon (2^nd).

Marseille is still on the podium despite a quality of play which doesn’t really improve. In their last fixture, they won 1-0 over Valenciennes with a 93^rd minute goal from Rod Fanni, in a very poor game. It’s good for their confidence, however they will need to show much more than recently if they want to exist in this game.

Lucas Moura and Jeremy Menez are back after having missed the last game. It could also be David Beckham’s first appearance in Ligue 1. It is more likely to see him coming in second half only if Paris is ahead.

Both teams already played twice against each other this season. The first one was a 2-2 draw in Marseille (in Ligue 1, 2 goals from both Ibrahimovic and Gignac), and then Paris won 2-0 at home in Coupe de la Ligue. I believe Ancelotti will use last weekend’s negative result to have his players extremely motivated. Marseille has nothing to lose so they could give a hard time to the home side, but if Paris is as focused and organised as they shown in Valencia, they should take the 3 points here.
