Both teams are in really good form since the beginning of 2013.

Sochaux won their first four games of the year (2 in Ligue 1 and 2 in Coupe de France) and lost the last one in Montpellier. They will most likely be fighting around the relegation zone until the end of the season, unless they manage a good run in the next weeks. They are currently 16th of the league, just two points ahead of the 18th.

St-Etienne are in excellent shape. They are still unbeaten in 2013 after 5 wins and a draw. This great streak brought them back in the European tickets fight as they are 7th with only two points less than Rennes (4th). Last weekend they had a very solid home performance against Bastia (3-0). The figures were pretty impressive, 57% ball possession and 19 goal attempts against only 6 for the guests.

Romain Hamouma is still not back for the Greens but he will be soon. But St-Etienne managed to get an interesting loan in the last day of the transaction period, the PSG’s midfielder Matthieu Bodmer. He doesn’t have the level to cope with Verratti, Matuidi or Thiago Motta in Paris, but he is still a good Ligue 1 player. He will bring his experience and should integrate himself very easily in this squad.
